She was born in Athens. She studied at the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens, where she obtained degrees in Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies and History and Archaeology. She completed her postgraduate studies at the University of Rome (History of Medieval and Modern Art) and at the Université Libre in Brussels (Art and Culture) with scholarships from the Italian and Belgian State respectively. She obtained her postgraduate diploma in History from the University of Sorbonne. She is a PhD candidate in the Department of Cultural Management at Panteion University.She has worked at the Ministry of Culture in the sector of the protection of modern cultural heritage (1978-2011). She has served as head of the department if Historic and Folklore Museums and Collections (1993-1997) in the Directorate of Folklore Culture and Director of Modern Cultural Heritage (1997-2011).She has participated in numerous conferences and seminars in Greece and abroad. Her articles and studies related to the protection of cultural heritage, the museums of Modern Greek culture and museum education have been published in scientific journals and edited volumes.She is the President of the Hellenic National Committee, International Council of Museums (ICOM), and member of the Council of Museums of the General Secretariat of Culture as well as other scientific institutions and committees. She is especially committed on issues of International Organizations.
